We have designed a simple system for composting the food waste from our campus that requires a minimum of energy and labor inputs.

We have developed a novel system for efficiently composting large quantities of food waste. No other composting system can currently handle this amount of food waste with so little energy or labor use.

Our campus produces around 53 tons of food waste per year. Currently all of this waste is land filled at the Seven Mile Creek Landfill in Eau Claire Wisconsin. This needlessly consumes energy for transportation, uses landfill space, and wastes a valuable resource.
